The location offers on-location security consisting of off-duty Houston Police officers, individual privacy booths for sensitive transactions, plus, the staff are expert appraisers who are often called on for estate settlement and appraisal services by banks, lawyers and family will executors.

    About The Menil Collection

    The Menil Collection is a museum and neighborhood of art spanning 30 acres in the heart of Houston, Texas.

    The main gallery building anchors the campus and is surrounded by four additional museum buildings: the Menil Drawing Institute; Cy Twombly Gallery; Richmond Hall, which features an installation by artist Dan Flavin; and the Fresco Building.

    Making art accessible is vital to Menil’s mission; no admission is charged and public programs are free. All of Menil’s campus buildings are entered at ground level, symbolic of its democratic ideals. The Menil’s philosophy is to foster each visitor’s direct, personal encounter with works in the collection. The display of carefully chosen artworks in serene settings are hallmark of the museum.

    The museum’s public programs aim to attract, educate, and inspire diverse audiences and are vital to the life of the Menil. Exhibiting artists lecture and perform; curators and scholars explore exhibitions, collections, and artworks; music, dance, and poetry performances are held, and all are organized to foster conversation.

    THE BEGINING…

    We started in the food business in 1995 in Houston, Texas!  Owned and operated four locations prior to House of Fries.  Our focus has always been to develop a taste menu offering creative food items with option to please all dinners.  It all had to start with the finest burger this world has ever tasted, with a special focus on fries varieties, complemented with  home made dipping sauces and amazing home made toppings!  So, we offered many specials at our previous locations and selected all the winners to create our current menu, which is begging served at the House OF Fries (HOF).

     Our secret?  The best ingredients is a big part. An unrelenting love for the burger and the fries is the other big part. Between those two, we think we pretty much have our burger bases covered.

     We love our customers and treat each and every one with respect. Many start out as customers and before long they become friends and part of the HOF family.  I will say that is our best asset.

    Our 45-year history

    In 1993 Pat Torres and Kopi Vogiatzis opened the first Escalante’s location in Houston, honoring the recipes of Pat’s grandmother Barbara Escalante. For thirty years, Escalante’s has helped define the Tex-Mex dining tradition in Houston.

    We believe in doing the classics right. We make both flour and corn tortillas by hand fresh to order. We ripen avocados in our kitchen until they are perfect for guacamole. Our Queso Blanco recipe is famous across Houston. And our beef fajitas use only center-cut outer skirt steak, marinated overnight and cooked medium-rare on a piping hot skillet.
