    The Wortham Center is home to Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera. Since its opening in 1987, Wortham has entertained more than 8 million people.

    Bold and beautiful, the Wortham is a facility like no other. It is a masterful, creative playground for performing artists and offers an array of public spaces, both monumental and intimate. Eugene Aubry of Morris Aubry Architects designed the Wortham Center.

    The Wortham Center has two theaters, the Alice and George Brown Theater and the Lillie and Roy Cullen Theater.

    At 2,405 seats, the Brown is the larger theater with a 17,000-square foot stage used primarily for major performances by our resident companies, Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera. Despite its size, no seat is more than 138 feet from the stage.

With excellent acoustics, warm deep rose tones and walnut wood accents, Zilkha Hall seats 500 on two levels.

    Sarofim Hall mirrors elegant and legendary European and Broadway theaters, providing an exceptional entertainment and cultural environment for patrons and performers.

    Sarofim Hall was specifically built with touring musical theater in mind and is the home to the Hobby Center’s two resident series: Memorial Hermann Broadway at the Hobby Center and Theatre Under the Stars. The space also hosts a wide variety of events ranging from concerts to private corporate events, wedding receptions, galas and much more.

    Make sure to turn your gaze upward when taking your seat to view the breathtaking Joe and Lee Jamail Celestial Dome Ceiling with more than 2,000 fiber optic stars that replicate the summer night sky – and a shooting star every five minutes.
